Fineprintbank product changes, pre-launch

Bank rates are well tracked. The fine print is not.

Comparison sites show today's rates and fees. Fineprint will keep a dated copy of every published field, so you can see the old and the new value and the day it changed: a new fee, a higher minimum balance, a narrower eligibility rule. Banks already publish that detail as public Consumer Data Right product data, but not their past versions. Fineprint will read it every day and keep each version, so product and compliance teams, and broker platforms, can see which published field changed (a fee, an eligibility rule, a balance limit) and when. Changes that appear only in PDS or T&C documents are not covered.

3,334

products published by 96 brands of banks and other data holders on 2026-09-27

302

of them marked as updated in the previous 7 days (9.1% of all 3,334); 639 in the previous 30. Some look like bulk re-stamps rather than edits: 33 records from IMB Bank share one time stamp; 21 records from Bankwest and CommBank share one time stamp; 18 records from 6 brands share one time stamp; and 5 smaller blocks of 10 or more.

What one snapshot already shows

Each product record carries a "last updated" date set by the bank. That says that a product changed, not what changed: a new fee and a corrected typo look the same. Seeing the old and new clause side by side needs a dated copy from before the change, which is what daily collection will keep.

20 of the 116 brands in the CDR register could not be read with our single request that day (errors, refusals or timeouts), ANZ among them; the counts leave them out. 61 products from CommBank and Bankwest carried a last-updated time later than our request, so we leave them out of the update counts.

What a change record will look like

For each changed product, the fields that moved, the old and new value, and the date we first saw the change. The fields come from the CDR banking product schema:

  • fees monthly, transaction, exit and other fees, with amounts or rates
  • eligibility minimum age, residency, income, business or student conditions
  • constraints minimum and maximum balances, limits, opening amounts
  • features offset, redraw, bonus-interest conditions, card and wallet features
  • lending and deposit rates included too

What exists today

  1. Done: one snapshot of the product lists of 96 of the 116 brands in the CDR register, 2026-09-27 (above). 20, including ANZ, could not be read that day.
  2. Planned, not running yet: daily collection of product lists and product details. The history starts the day it runs.
  3. Planned: the field-level change list and alerts. We will build them with the first early-access teams.
  4. Later: history exports, after 90 days of daily copies.

Proposed prices

Nothing is for sale yet. Pick the option you would pay for: it tells us what to build first. Before anything is sold, we email you the prices at that time and you decide then. Prices in Australian dollars, excluding GST.

Pick the option you would buy. Nothing is charged: this only puts you on the early-access list with that choice noted.

Questions

Where does the data come from?

From each bank's public Consumer Data Right product endpoint, listed in the CDR register. These endpoints need no login and hold no customer data. How it is collected.

How is this different from a rate tracker?

Rate trackers record interest rates. Fineprint will record every field of each product (fees, eligibility, constraints and features, as well as rates) and show which of them changed. Daily collection has not started yet.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is a record of what banks publish, not a recommendation of any product.
